SUNY New Paltz Swim Teams Compete at the Union Relays

SCHENECTADY, NY — The SUNY New Paltz women’s and men’s swimming teams competed at the Union Relays this afternoon. The women placed second out of three teams, while the men finished third.

The SUNY New Paltz women started out on the right foot with a first place finish in the 400-yard medley relay, junior Liz Delia (Oswego, NY), freshman Joelle Hopf (Vestal, NY), sophomore Liz Ruggiero (Congers, NY) and senior Joanna Masterson (Canandaigua, NY) finished in 4:11.70.

The Hawks freshman Beth Coleback (Rochester, NY), junior Ashley Williamson (Holland Patent, NY), senior Regina Davide (Ossining, NY), and Masterson combined for a first place finish in the crescendo relay with a time of 4:57.0. Rapp, Hopf, Ruggiero, and Masterson swam to a first place finish in the 200-yard medley (1:56.19) while Williamson, Delia, Davide, and Masterson came away with first in the 400-yard free relay with a time of 3:47.47.

SUNY New Paltz managed to come away with second place finished in the 3×100-yard back relay, 3×100-yard butterfly, the 200-yard free relay, and the 3×200 IM relay. The Hawks finished the day in second place with a total of 96 points.
