SUNY New Paltz Rolls Over Manhattanville

PURCHASE, NY — This afternoon the SUNY New Paltz women’s soccer team handily defeated Manhattanville College today 4-0. The Hawks improve their record to 5-2-1 while Manhattanville drops to 2-7 on the season.

At the 12:38 mark, junior Lauren Martel (West Sayville, NY) took advantage of a loose ball at the goal mouth and laced a shot past Valiant’s goalkeeper Michele Ribeiro(West Hartford, CT). Twenty minutes later, freshman Jennifer Anselmi (Garnerville, NY) would score on a penalty kick.

With only twenty seconds off the clock in the second half, junior Kerry Kelty (Valley Stream, NY) crossed the ball to an open Alison Fleigel (New Hyde Park, NY), who netted a goal for the Hawks. The offense for the Hawks did not slow down as Kelty took advantage of the Valiants defense and tallied her own goal at 70:03. Brianne Miller (Blue Point, NY) was credited with the assists.

SUNY New Paltz freshman goalkeeper Sarah Boccard (Washingtonville, NY) recorded one save to sustain the win. Manhattanville goalkeeper Michelle Ribeiro had eight saves and freshman goalkeeper Kellie Curnuck (Levittown, NY) made 5 saves on the day.

The SUNY New Paltz women’s soccer team will return to action on Friday, September 30th when they will host conference rival SUNY Brockport at 4:00 pm.
