Sigma Beta Delta Honor Society to induct two new members at ceremony

NEW PALTZ — The School of Business at SUNY New Paltz School will hold the Sigma Beta Delta Honor Society induction ceremony at 5 p.m. on Friday, April 29, in the Old Main Building. In addition to the induction ceremony, this event will feature the distribution of the school’s academic and service honor awards, recognition of students who are graduating, and the presentation of the School of Business CD Yearbook.

Membership in Sigma Beta Delta is the highest recognition a business student can receive at a college or university with a Sigma Beta Delta Chapter. The purpose of Sigma Beta Delta is to recognize scholarship and achievement among students of business, management and administration. In addition, it also encourages professional development and a life distinguished by honorable service.

This year’s Honorary Sigma Beta Delta members are Jonathan Lewit, assistant vice president of technology at SUNY New Paltz, and Emily Trapp, director of Instructional Media Services at SUNY New Paltz. The chapter officers are Kim Lukaszewski, president; Kevin Caskey, vice president; and Sally Schultz, secretary/treasurer and chapter faculty advisor.

This year, 23 students will receive the Academic Award and three students will be presented the Outstanding Student Service Award. The Academic Award is presented to graduating students, both undergraduate and MBA, who have an overall GPA of 3.8 or higher (summa cum laude) and have completed at least 24 credits at New Paltz by the beginning of the Spring 2005 semester.

The outstanding Student Service Award is presented to graduating students, both undergraduate and MBA, who were nominated by a professor because they have demonstrated outstanding leadership or otherwise contributed significantly to the college. In addition, the School of Business will recognize the efforts and achievements of 230 undergraduate and MBA students who graduated in December 2004, or intend to graduate in May or August 2005.

Also at the event, the Dean’s Student Advisory Board, created by the dean to help improve programs and services, will present the second School of Business CD Yearbook. The yearbook contains a collection of beautiful memories of New Paltz that includes students, student associations, faculty, staff and pictures of the campus and local community.
