SUNY New Paltz to host annual Student Business Day Conference

NEW PALTZ — The State University of New York at New Paltz American Marketing Association (AMA) will hold its 9th annual Student Business Day Conference, titled “One Step Ahead of the Competition,” on Friday, March 18, in the Student Union Building (SUB) on the New Paltz campus.

This annual conference attracts 200-300 students from New Paltz, as well as surrounding community colleges. In addition, every year, a large number of business alumni, faculty and business executives attend the conference.

This year’s keynote speaker will be Lawrence M. Kimmel, chairman and CEO of Grey Direct Worldwide, the largest advertising agency in New York. The conference will also feature Daniel Scavino, general manager of Trump National Golf Club in Westchester.

The conference will begin at 9 a.m. with a resume review workshop, followed by 14 workshops that will cover an array of topics, such as dressing for success, behavioral interviewing and e-marketing. The presenters of the workshops will be available throughout the day to talk to conference attendees.

The event is open to SUNY students, including those attending community colleges, and students from neighboring four-year universities, as well as the general public.

Registration fees are as follows: $10 for AMA members; $15 for SUNY New Paltz student non-members; $20 for non-New Paltz students; and $25 for non-students. The fee includes a full-day of workshops, continental breakfast and lunch. Students may register at the School of Business – room 107.
