Masterson Completes First Day at NCAA Championship

HOLLAND, MI — SUNY New Paltz junior Joanna Masterson (Canandaigua, NY — Canandaigua Academy) swam the first of three freestyle events over the next three days at the 2005 NCAA Division III Swimming & Diving Championship at Hope College in Holland, Michigan.

Swimming in the preliminary round of the 50-yard freestyle, Masterson finished 22nd among a field of 48 competitors with a time of :24.60. Masterson did not qualify for this evening’s final.

Masterson will compete in two more events in the next two days. On Friday (Mar. 11) she will swim in the 200-yard freestyle and on Saturday (Mar. 12) she will compete in the 100-yard freestyle. Each day, the preliminary round will be held in the morning with the finals beginning at 6:30 p.m.
