Hawks Earn Second Straight Sweep

STAUTON, VA — For the second straight day, the SUNY New Paltz softball team came away with a doubleheader sweep. The Hawks took two from Mary Baldwin College winning the first game 9-6 and 12-0 in the night cap.

In game one, junior Liz McPartlan (Huntington Station, NY) had a double, a three-run homer and four runs batted in help lead SUNY New Paltz (4-0) to the win. Freshman Michelle Reinke (St. James, NY) improved to 2-0 on the mound with five strikeouts in a complete game effort.

The Hawks scored two in the first and four in the second to cruise to their fourth straight win in game two. Senior Jen Born (Walworth, NY) went 2-for-3 with a homer and four runs battd in. Freshman Joelle Von Bischoffshausen (North Brunswick, NJ) helped lead a 15-hit attack going 4-for-4 with four runs batted in.

Freshman Kelly O’Hea (Huntington Station, NY) threw a two-hitter to win her second straight start in as many days.
