10th Ranked Hawks Ease Past Yeshiva

NEW YORK, NY — The 10th ranked SUNY New Paltz men’s volleyball team rolled to a 3-0 road, win over Yeshiva this evening. The victory improved the Hawks overall record to 12-7 and moved SUNY New Paltz to 5-2 in the metro division of the North Eastern Collegiate Volleyball Association.

Senior outside hitter Mike LaRocco (Hauppauge, NY) and sophomore outside hitter Jeff Lee (Clifton Park, NY) combined for 11 kills in the first game to lead the Hawks to a 30-17 win. The Hawks maintained their edge in the second game and pulled away early to prevail 30-19.

In game three, junior opposite Chris Grunwald (St. James, NY) had four kills, three service aces and hit .571 to clinch the match for the Hawks, 30-18. As a team, SUNY New Paltz had just two errors and hit .441 in the final game.

LaRocco finished the match with 10 kills. Grunwald added eight kills and hit .500 in 14 attempts. Junior setter Kevin Buggs (Tonawanda, NY) finished with 29 assists.

The Hawks registered their eighth, 3-0 win of the season.
