Hawks Fall In Five To East Stroudsburg

NEW PALTZ, NY — The SUNY New Paltz men’s volleyball team rallied from a 2-0 deficit only to fall 3-2 to East Stroudsburg this evening in the Hawks home opener at Elting Gym.

Freshman Jon Daly (Sinking Spring, PA) scored three consecutive points in the fifth game to help the Warriors pull away in a 15-10 fifth-and-deciding-game victory. Daly finished with a match-high 20 kills and a .412 hitting percentage.

Sophomore Adam Holdredge (Tunkhannock, PA) dished out 50 assists to help East Stroudsburg (2-0) win its two matches in the Hudson Valley. The Warriors swept Vassar 3-0 last evening.

SUNY New Paltz struggled on the offensive end throughout the match and hit .118 for the five games. The Hawks (1-4) were led by senior Chris Ganje (Halfmoon, NY) who finished with 11 kills. Junior Ryan Bullard (Smithtown, NY) added 10 kills and five blocks. Senior setter Jason Karpf (Lake Ronkonkoma, NY) had 33 assists for SUNY New Paltz.
