Walsh and Letts Lead Hawks at Hamilton Invitational

CLINTON, NY — For the fourth time this fall, junior Janet Walsh (Baldwinsville, NY) was the top finisher for the SUNY New Paltz women’s cross country team. Walsh placed 20th among a field of 130 with a time of 19:38 at the Hamilton Invitational this afternoon.

In addition to Walsh, senior Kelly Moore (Rochester, NY) was also among the top 50 finishers for SUNY New Paltz. Moore came in 46th with a time of 20:38. Sophomore Jessica Waterbury (Mount Sinai, NY) was third for the Hawks and 65th overall with a time of 21:11. The top-five for SUNY New Paltz also featured sophomore Kelly Dunphy (Hauppauge, NY), who was 86th with a time of 21:42, and senior Allison Taub (Greenlawn, NY), who finished 96th with a time of 22:10.

In a meet that featured Division I, II and III schools, SUNY New Paltz finished ninth among 14 teams. The Hawks had 233 points. Colgate University won the meet with 38 points.

The SUNY New Paltz men’s cross country team finished 10th out of 10 teams with 274 points. Senior Jason Letts (Plattsburgh, NY) was the top finisher for the Hawks for the fourth time this fall. Letts completed the 8K-race in 29:24 to take 47th place. Sophomore Harry Sudwischer (Copiague, NY) was right behind Letts with a time of 29:25 and a 48th place effort.

Junior George Correa (Central Islip, NY) was 76th with a time of 30:57. Junior Mike Nelson (Dix Hills, NY) came in 79th with a time of 31:08. Rounding out the top five for the Hawks, senior Sam Austin (Northport, NY) was 88th at 31:54.

Queens University won the meet with 56 points.
