Hawks To Face Cortland in SUNYAC Quarterfinal

NEW PALTZ, NY — The SUNY New Paltz women’s soccer team will be a part of the six-team field competing for this year’s State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) championship.

The Hawks (6-8-2, 4-4-2) are seeded sixth in the tournament will meet third-seeded Cortland (7-9-2, 6-3-1) on November 2 in a 1:00 p.m. quarterfinal game in Cortland, NY.

SUNY New Paltz and Cortland played to a 0-0 double overtime tie on October 8 at New Paltz.

The SUNY New Paltz-Cortland winner will travel to the Soccer Hall of Fame in Oneonta, NY, to meet second-seeded Plattsburgh (13-3, 9-1) on November 5 at 1:30 p.m.

In the tournament’s second quarterfinal game on November 2, fourth-seeded Brockport (9-6-1, 6-3-1) will meet fifth-seeded Geneseo (7-11, 5-5). The Brockport-Geneseo winner will square off against top-seeded Oneonta (15-1-1, 10-0) in the other semifinal game on November 5 at the Soccer Hall of Fame.

The championship game will be played on November 6 at 1:30 p.m. at the Soccer Hall of Fame. Oneonta captured the league title last season and went on to win the Division III National Championship.

Prior to their SUNYAC Tournament match-up with Cortland, the Hawks will wrap-up the regular season with two games this week. SUNY New Paltz will play at RPI on Wednesday (Oct. 27) at 1:00 p.m. and at SUNY Farmingdale on Saturday (Oct. 30) at 1:00 p.m.
