Hawks Set Single-Season Record For Wins at Wells

AURORA, NY — Junior Patricia Erikson (Massapequa Park, NY) scored two goals to ignite a five-goal second half and lead the SUNY New Paltz field hockey team to a 6-0 win over Wells College this afternoon.

The Hawks earned their sixth victory of the season and in the process set a team-record for wins. Last year’s squad held the previous mark of five victories (5-12) for the fifth-year varsity program.

Junior Kate Schoonmaker (High Falls, NY) gave the Hawks a 1-0 lead when she took a pass from junior Lisa Wong (Colts Neck, NJ) and beat Wells goalie Ali Formicola to put the Hawks in front late in the first half. It was the first of three goals that Wong would assist on for the Hawks.

Freshman Danielle Smith (Selden, NY) added two, second half goals as well to help SUNY New Paltz (6-10) stop a three-game skid.

Wells dropped to 4-7 with the loss.
