Hawks Make it Four Straight With Win Over NYU

MANHATTAN, NY — The SUNY New Paltz men’s soccer team extended its winning streak to four with a 3-1 victory over New York University this evening.

Despite being outshot 17-6, the Hawks made the most of their opportunities. Sophomore forward Joe Fabian (Selden, NY) put the Hawks ahead for good at the 65-minute mark when he tapped home a deflected shot off the foot of senior defender Bobby Monahan (Central Islip, NY).

Sophomore midfielder Dan Libardi (Canaan, NY) added an insurance goal in the 82nd minute when his shot squeezed between Violet goalkeeper Daniel Baker and the post.

Monahan, who assisted on two goals, helped the Hawks (6-8) pull even when he found senior midfielder Chris Daly (Washingtonville, NY) alone in front of the net. Daly chipped a shot past Baker to tie the score at one in the 42nd minute.

NYU (6-3-2) took a 1-0 lead in the 33rd minute when James Walkinshaw punched home a pass that deflected off SUNY New Paltz sophomore goalie Jake Lammers (Highland, NY).

Lammers recovered to make eight saves and blanked the Violets the rest of the way.
