Hawks Extend Winning Streak to Five

NEW PALTZ, NY — The SUNY New Paltz men’s soccer team struck twice in the final thirty minutes to extend its winning streak to five in a 2-1 triumph over Skidmore this afternoon.

The Hawks (7-8) broke a 0-0 halftime score when sophomore forward Daniel Libardi (Canaan, NY) lobbed the ball from the right of the box to charging senior midfielder Chris Daly (Washingtonville, NY) who put it to the back of the net.

Five minutes later, the Hawks were on the attack again and sophomore forward Brian Siergiej (Oceanside, NY) snuck a pass across the box to sophomore forward Greg Foss (Queensbury, NY) who faced an open net and gave SUNY New Paltz a 2-0 lead.

Skidmore (7-7) carved into the Hawks lead in the 70-minute mark, when sophomore midfielder Colin Minte (Yarmouth, ME) broke past the Hawk’s defense and buried a shot in the bottom left corner of the net to make it a one goal game.

The Hawks five game winning streak is their longest since a pair of four-game streaks during the 1996 and 1997 seasons.
