Foss Scores Twice, Hawks Handle Oswego

OSWEGO, NY — Sophomore forward Greg Foss (Queensbury, NY) scored two goals and assisted on another to help lead the SUNY New Paltz men’s soccer team to a convincing 5-1 win over Oswego this afternoon.

The Hawks extended their winning streak to three straight and raised their record in the SUNYAC to 5-3. SUNY New Paltz, who scored two goals in the first 20 minutes of their victory over Cortland yesterday, started strong once again and built a 2-0 lead at the 14-minute mark the first goal of the day by Foss.

Oswego (5-8-1, 1-4-1) pulled to within one late in the first half when Chris Krueger scored on a breakaway.

Leading 2-1 early in the second half, Foss tallied his second goal of the day to put the Hawks ahead, 3-1. Foss then set up sophomore midfielder Dan Libardi (Caanan, NY) in the 71st minute to put the game away.

Junior midfielder Richard Randall (Spencerport,NY) added his first collegiate goal in the 77th minute to help the Hawks improve their overall record to 5-8.
