FDU-Florham Rallies To Defeat Hawks

MADISON, NJ — Fairleigh Dickinson-Florham rallied from an early 2-0 deficit to defeat SUNY New Paltz 3-2 this afternoon.

Kate Springmeyer scored two goals for the Devils including an unassisted game-winner with 10:42 remaining in the second half.

SUNY New Paltz (5-10) built a 2-0 first-half lead behind the play of juniors Kate Schoonmaker (High Falls, NY) and Lisa Wong (Colts Neck, NJ). Schoonmaker’s goal, which came midway through the first half, put the Hawks in front 1-0. Eight minutes later, Wong found the net to give the Hawks a two-goal advantage.

Springmeyer answered Wong’s goal less than two minutes later to slice the FDU-Florham (2-13) deficit in half.

Marie Mazzocchi, who assisted on Springmeyer’s goal, pulled the Devils even six minutes into the second half.

SUNY New Paltz will play at Wells on Saturday (Oct. 23) at 1:00 p.m.
