TCNJ Defeats SUNY New Paltz, 8-1

EWING, NJ — Senior midfielder Colleen Stamler and sophomore forward Jess Berkowitz each scored four goals to lead the College of New Jersey to an 8-1 win over SUNY New Paltz this afternoon.

Stambler registered her first goal of the day on a penalty corner, 14 minutes into the contest. It was the first of three penalty corners that TCNJ would score off in the game.

After Stambler scored her second goal of the day two minutes later, junior forward Patricia Erikson (Massapequa Park, NY) put home a pass from junior forward Kate Schoonmaker (High Falls, NY) to pull the Hawks (0-4) within a goal.

From there, the Lions (2-2) exploded for three goals in the final four minutes of the half to build a 5-1 lead at the break.

Sophomore forward Allison Greene had three assists for TCNJ.

SUNY New Paltz will square off against Vassar on Wednesday (Sept.15) at 4:00 p.m.
