SUNY New Paltz Men’s Soccer Team Falls to Union 4-2

SCHENECTADY, NY — The SUNY New Paltz men’s soccer team enjoyed a 2-1 lead through the 60-minute mark, but Union (3-1) scored three goals in the final thirty minutes to steal a 4-2 victory from the Hawks.

Senior defenseman Bobby Monahan (Central Islip, NY) tallied his first goal of the season and sophomore midfielder Gregg Spinelli (Highland, NY) added another to give SUNY New Paltz (0-4) a lead in the second half.

Union junior defenseman Ryan McAleese (Walpole, MA) scored two goals, including the game-tying goal. Junior forward Kelvin Martinez (Garifuna, Honduras) added the game winner in the 65th minute to help lead the Dutchmen to the come-from-behind victory.

The loss was the fourth straight for the Hawks. They will look to rebound tomorrow, Sept. 12, against RPI in the second day of the Union Classic.
