Hawks Defeat Vassar

NEW PALTZ, NY — The SUNY New Paltz women’s volleyball team scored a 3-1 win over Vassar College this evening at Elting Gymnasium.

The Hawks earned their first win over the Brewers since 1998. SUNY New Paltz won the first two games, 30-27, 30-24, before dropping the third 30-21. SUNY New Paltz hit .316 in the fourth game to secure the match with a 30-18 win.

Junior middle hitter Christina Mazurowski (Tonawanda, NY) had 15 kills, six blocks and hit .343 for the match. Junior outside hitter Andrea Kaiser (Blue Point, NY) recorded her sixth double-double of the season with 14 kills and 12 digs.

Freshman setter Katie Becofsky (Altamont, NY) finished with 42 assists for the Hawks (11-4).

Vassar dropped to 7-7 with the loss.
