Moore and Jackson-Buckner Claim SUNYAC Outdoor Track & Field Championship

NEW PALTZ, NY — The SUNY New Paltz men’s and women’s outdoor track and field teams produced two State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) champions at the 2004 SUNYAC Outdoor Track and Field Championship.

Junior Josh Moore (Woodburne, NY) captured the SUNYAC Championship in the shot put with a toss of 48 feet, 5 ¼ inches. Moore, who was the conference’s indoor shot put champion in 2003, was 3 ¼ inches better than the second place finisher, Marcus Matyas of Cortland.

Moore’s displayed his power in two other events. He placed third in the hammer throw with a throw of 150 feet, 11 inches and came in 11th in the discus with a hurl of 120 feet, eight inches.

Sophomore Musu Jackson-Buckner (Buffalo, NY) sprinted to a second consecutive SUNYAC Championship in the 200 meters in a time of 26.03. Ashlee Robertson of Oneonta placed second with a time of 26.17. Jackson-Buckner also claimed the title in 2003 with a time of 26.01.

Jackson-Buckner’s speed was also evident in the 400 meters where she placed second in a time of 59.00.
