Hawks Close Out Home Season In Style With 6-1 Win Over Union

NEW PALTZ, NY — The SUNY New Paltz men’s tennis team wrapped up their home season with a 6-1 victory over Union College this afternoon. The Hawks finished with a 5-1 home record and improved to 10-4 overall. Union dropped to 3-10 with the loss.

New Paltz won two of the three doubles matches and five of the six singles matches to earn the win. Senior Brad Breakstone (Mount Kisco, NY) was a double winner in his final home match. Breakstone teamed up with sophomore Greg Cichon (Farmingdale, NY) to win number one doubles, 8-4, over Jim White and Drew Goldstein. Breakstone also won at number one singles, 6-7, 6-3, 12-10, over White.

Juniors Josh Greenspan (North Babylon, NY) and Jason Letts (Plattsburgh, NY) were also double winners for the Hawks. The duo partnered up to win the number three doubles, 8-3, over Aaron Agostino and Mike Simon. Greenspan took the number four singles match, 6-3, 6-4, over Mitch Linder and Letts was victorious at the number five singles spot, 6-4, 6-2, over Agostino.

New Paltz concludes their season at Hunter College on Wednesday, May 5th.
