Ganje and Dietrich Named to NECVA All-Metro Division Team

NEW PALTZ, NY — SUNY New Paltz men’s volleyball standouts, Chris Ganje (Halfmoon, NY) and Rob Dietrich (San Jose, CA), were named to the North East Collegiate Volleyball Association (NECVA) All-Metro Division Team.

Ganje, a junior outside hitter and three-time NECVA Metro Division Player of the Week, was one of the offensive catalysts for the Hawks this season. He led the team with 296 kills (3.89 kpg) and 35 service aces (0.46 sapg) while finishing second with 45 total blocks (0.59 bpg) and third with 136 digs (1.79 dpg).

Ganje posted six double-doubles with kills and digs this season and recorded at least 20 kills in a match six times. His best match came in the 3-2 win over local rival Vassar College where he had 22 kills, 15 digs, and a .436 hitting percentage.

Dietrich, a senior middle blocker, was a versatile player who was a strong presence at the net. He was among the top three for the Hawks in blocks, hitting percentage, kills, and service aces. His 124 total blocks (1.55 bpg) ranked first on the team and second in the NECVA. He also hit .325 with 166 kills (2.08 kpg) and 19 service aces (0.24 sapg). The senior had at least 10 kills in a match six times and at least 10 blocks in a match three times this season.

Dietrich was named to the All-Tournament Team at the Endicott College Vizion Apparel Invitational where he helped lead SUNY New Paltz to a fourth place finish. During the tournament, he averaged 2.05 kills, 2.35 blocks, and had a .419 hitting percentage.

New Paltz finished the season with a 17-8 record and was second in the NECVA Metro Division with a 9-3 mark.
