Cote’ Named SUNYAC Player of the Week

NEW PALTZ, NY — SUNY New Paltz sophomore outfielder Jeff Cote’ (Mechanicsville, MD/Chopticon HS) has been named the State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) Player of the Week for the second time this season.

Cote’ had a tremendous week at the plate where he batted .625 (15-for-24) with four doubles, a triple, and a home run. In six games, he scored 10 runs, collected 13 RBI’s, and had a slugging percentage of 1.000.

In the first game of a doubleheader against conference rival SUNY IT on April 19, the sophomore went 3-for-4 with three RBI’s and three runs scored in an 11-2 SUNY New Paltz win. Cote’ had his best game of the season in the 11-8 win over local rival Mount Saint Mary College on April 22 where he went 4-for-4, hit for the cycle, scored four runs and drove in five.

After missing the first 16 games, the sophomore has been a strong presence at the plate. He leads the team and the SUNYAC with a .480 batting average and his three triples and .787 slugging percentage are also tops on the team.

The Hawks will close out the regular season when they host Vassar College on Tuesday, April 27.
