Cote’ Named SUNYAC Baseball Player of the Week

NEW PALTZ, NY — SUNY New Paltz outfielder Jeff Cote’ (Mechanicsville, MD — Chopticon HS) has been named the State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) Player of the Week.

In five games last week, Cote’ batted .333 with two home runs and seven RBI’s. He also had a .733 slugging percentage and scored four runs in a 2-3 week for the Hawks.

Cote’ went 3-for-3 with a pair of two-run homers and four runs batted in to lead the Hawks to a 6-3 win over conference rival Fredonia in the first game of a doubleheader on Saturday (Mar. 27). In game two, Cote’ singled and drove in two in an 8-6 come-from-behind victory over the Blue Devils.

The sophomore, who missed 16 games this season, has worked his way back into the lineup and is hitting .389 with two homers and seven RBI’s.

The SUNY New Paltz baseball team is 8-14 overall and 2-2 in the SUNYAC. After dropping their first nine games of the season, the Hawks are 8-5 over the last 13 games. SUNY New Paltz is fourth in the SUNYAC standings after splitting four games with Fredonia and Brockport over the weekend.

The Hawks will host Vassar in a non-conference game on Wednesday (Mar. 31) at 3:00 p.m. and will travel to Oswego and SUNY IT for back-to-back conference doubleheaders on Saturday (Apr. 3) and Sunday (Apr. 4).
