Men’s Volleyball Sweeps Yeshiva, Extend Winning Streak to Five

NEW YORK, NY — The SUNY New Paltz men’s volleyball team extended their winning streak to five with a 30-11, 30-12, 30-14 victory over NECVA foe Yeshiva University this evening. Four of the five wins during the streak have been in straight sets. New Paltz improved to 7-2 overall and 4-2 in the NECVA while Yeshiva dropped to 1-6 overall and 0-4 in the NECVA.

The Hawks received contributions from every player who participated in the match. Junior Liam Doyle (Rhinebeck, NY) led New Paltz with eight kills while sophomores Chris Grunwald (St. James, NY) and Greg Jackson (North Central Square, NY) chipped in seven kills apiece.

New Paltz also played superb defensively as freshman Jeff Lee (Clifton Park, NY) registered a season-high eight digs and senior Rob Dietrich (San Jose, CA) recorded a team-high four blocks. As a team, they hit .381 (42 kills, 10 errors, 84 total attempts) with 32 set assists, 31 digs, and 10 total team blocks.

New Paltz will attempt to extend their winning streak to six when they host Philadelphia Biblical College on Tuesday, February 24th at 7:00 pm.
