Men’s Volleyball Extends Winning Streak to Six with 3-1 Victory over Philadelphia Biblical University

NEW PALTZ, NY — Junior Chris Ganje (Halfmoon, NY) recorded a double-double with 23 kills and 12 digs to lead the SUNY New Paltz men’s volleyball team to a 3-1 victory over Philadelphia Biblical University this evening.

After dropping the first game 30-28, New Paltz (8-2) stormed back to win the final three games, 30-26, 30-27, and 30-25 and extended its winning streak to six. Philadelphia Biblical (10-7) trailed 26-21 in the final game and sliced the lead to 27-25 but were unable to pull out the game.

Sophomore Kevin Buggs (Tonawanda, NY) ran the Hawks offense efficiently and dished out a season-high 57 assists while sophomore Chris Grunwald (St. James, NY) chipped in with 13 kills.

Junior Jade Brubaker (Telford, PA) and sophomore Jon Welsford (East Earl, PA) led the Crimson Eagles with 12 kills apiece. Senior Dan Schmoyer (Doylestown, PA) handed out 42 assists for Philadelphia Biblical who saw their five- match winning streak come to an end.

New Paltz will attempt to run the winning streak to seven when they travel to New York City to play Hunter College on Thursday, February 26 at 7:00 p.m.
