SUNY New Paltz Women’s Basketball Team Suffers 66-42 Loss to Eighth Ranked Eastern Connecticut

WILLIMANTIC, CT — Seniors Allison Coleman (Jewett City, CT) and Deanne Prior (Scituate, RI) and red-shirt freshman Sandy Mosley (Goshen, CT) combined for 42 points and 35 rebounds to lead the eighth-ranked Eastern Connecticut State University women’s basketball team to a 66-42 victory over SUNY New Paltz this afternoon.

The Warriors (7-1) led from start to finish and held New Paltz to just 13 percent (3-23) shooting in the first half as they held a 19 point lead of 31-12 at the break.

Prior shared game-high scoring honors with 16 points and grabbed a career-high 11 rebounds in helping Eastern to a 55-23 advantage on the boards. Coleman recorded her 51st career double-double with 11 points and 12 rebounds.

Junior guard Kim Weigel (Whitestone, NY) led New Paltz with 16 points and six rebounds while freshman guard Kerri Kelty (Valley Stream, NY) chipped in with nine points.

New Paltz (1-6) has lost six straight games and shot just 7- 28 (25 percent) from three-point range.

The Hawks return to the court in a home contest against City College of New York on Thursday, January 8th at 6:00 p.m.
