SUNY New Paltz Swimming Teams Compete at Union Relays

SCHNECTADY, NY — The SUNY New Paltz men’s and women’s swimming teams competed at the Union Relays this afternoon. The men’s team finished fourth among six teams while the women took second out of six teams. The women also finished in second place at the Union Relays last season.

The men had one first place and one second place finish among the nine events. They finished fourth in the other seven events. The women had four first place and four second place finishes among the nine events. They accumulated 104 points that were two points shy of Hartwick who took home the title. The women defeated Hartwick in a dual meet last weekend.

SUNY New Paltz Highlights at Union Relays:

Men: Jon and Jay Sousa and Kent Yeung won the 3 x 200 IM in 6:15.00.

Yeung, Jon Sousa, Danny Lo, and Mark Costello finished second in the 200-yard medley relay in 1:42.90

Women: Mallory Grempel, Danielle Lindner, Liz Delia, and Joanna Masterson captured the 400-yard medley relay in 4:10.74 and won the 200-yard medley relay in 1:55.68.

Grempel, Christina Magill, and Katie Rapp won the 3 x 100 breaststroke in 3:45.85.

Lindner, Masterson, Nevine Roberts, and Ashley Williamson were first in the 400-yard freestyle relay in 3:47.80.
