Hawks Drop Opener to 10th Ranked Rochester

ROCHESTER, NY — Makedo Wisseh scored a career-high 15 points to lead four Yellowjackets in double figures as the University of Rochester, ranked 10th in Division III, defeated SUNY New Paltz 90-46 this evening.

Rochester took an early lead over the Hawks and never looked back. Andy Larkin scored 14 points while Seth Hauben and Gabe Perez added 10 apiece. Wisseh meanwhile initiated a 17-2 Rochester burst in the first six minutes that ingnited the Yellowjackets to a 28-8 lead midway through the first half.

New Paltz suffered from cold shooting throughout the evening and hit just 29 percent (17-of-58) for the game. Freshman Amseshem Foulke-Henderson (Jamaica, NY) led the Hawks with 11 points off the bench. Senior center Steve Ott (New Paltz, NY) added eight points and four rebounds for New Paltz who will play Endicott on Saturday at 1:00 p.m.
