Two Late Goals Lift Geneseo Past New Paltz Men’s Soccer Team

GENESEO, NY — In a game that was scoreless for 72 minutes, Geneseo scored two late goals to hold off SUNY New Paltz 2-0 this afternoon.

The Knights remained spotless in the SUNYAC despite being outshot 21-9 by the Hawks. Junior midfielder David Fink (N. Tonawanda, NY) gave Geneseo (4-3-1, 3-0-0) the lead at 72:15 when he put a pass from senior forward Domenico Marsocci (Rochester, NY) into the net.

Junior forward Eric Lauricella (Rochester, NY) provided the Knights with some breathing room with an unassisted goal in the 85th minute.

Geneseo junior goalie Chris Stock (Penfield, NY) made six saves to post his third shutout in seven games.

The Hawks (2-4-1, 1-2-0) had a 15-5 shot advantage in the second half but couldn’t find their way into the scoring column. Junior goalie Brendan Morris (Hopewell Junction, NY) made two saves.
