New Paltz Field Hockey Team Explodes For Six Goals in Win Over Vassar

NEW PALTZ, NY — The SUNY New Paltz field hockey team set a team record for goals in a single game with a 6-4 victory over Vassar this evening at Dietz Stadium.

Sophomore attack Patricia Erikson (Massapequa Park, NY) led the offensive explosion with two goals and an assist. Erikson, who has now accounted for five goals over the Hawks last three games, gave New Paltz the lead for good with 10:53 remaining in the first half when she knocked in a pass from sophomore attack Musu Jackson-Buckner (Buffalo, NY) to put the Hawks ahead 2-1.

Jackson-Buckner had two assists for New Paltz (2-3) who picked up their first-ever victory over the Brewers in four tries. Senior midfielder Ellen Ridyard (Jenkintown, PA) had a goal and two assists for Vassar who fell to 0-4.
