NEW PALTZ, NY — Junior forward Leanne Gedraitis (West Falls, NY) recorded her third hat trick of the season this afternoon as the SUNY Brockport women s soccer team cruised to a 9-1 victory over SUNY New Paltz .
Senior forward Nikki Sanchez (Ontario, NY) opened the scoring for the Golden Eagles (6-2-1, 3-1-0) ten and a half minutes into the game on an assist by Gedraitis. The pair struck again eight minutes later to extend Brockport s lead to 4-0. This afternoon s performance pushed Gedraitis scoring totals to a team leading 11 goals and 26 points.
Junior midfielder Meredith Ventimiglia (Patchogue, NY) scored New Paltz s only goal off a free kick from freshman midfielder Alison Fliegel (New Hyde Park, NY). New Paltz (1-6-1, 0-4-0) goalie Maggie Fenton (East Meadow, NY) had four saves today and Brockport s Marisa Neri (Spencerport, NY) had five saves in the win.
