POUGHKEEPSIE, NY — The SUNY New Paltz women’s soccer team got their first win of the season when freshman forward Allison Fliegel (New Hyde Park, NY) scored late in the second half to give the Hawks a 1-0 victory over Vassar this afternoon.
New Paltz (1-2-1) broke an eight game losing streak to Vassar (0-2) with the win.
Junior goalkeeper Maggie Fenton (East Meadow, NY) had to make just one save to secure the shutout win. Freshman Lisa Strumwasser (Malibu, CA) made three saves for the Brewers in her collegiate debut.
New Paltz begins a streak of five consecutive home games when they host SUNYAC rival Plattsburgh on Friday, September 19th at 4:00 pm.
