Women’s Tennis Team Finishes Second at RPI Invitational

NEW PALTZ, NY — The SUNY New Paltz Hawks women s tennis team, the defending champions of the Rensselaer Invitational Women s Tennis Tournament, finished in second place out of five teams at this year s tournament with three points. Nazareth College took home the title with four points.

The duo of junior Kerry Farrell (Rockville Centre, NY) and senior Becky Sparacin (Goshen, NY) captured the # 1 doubles flight with a 4-0 record. The victory gave the Hawks their third point after junior Amie Larson (Port Jervis, NY) and her sister, freshman Jennifer Larson (Port Jervis, NY), had won the # 4 and # 5 singles flight, respectively, on the first day of the tournament.

New Paltz was tied for first place with Nazareth and RPI after yesterday s singles action but were unable to secure their second straight title.

The Hawks open up their dual match season at home with a tilt against Hartwick College on Wednesday, September 3rd at 4:00 pm.
