Yeung Earns MVP Honors

NEW PALTZ, NY — Kent Yeung, of Flushing, NY was named men’s swimming Most Valuable Swimmer on May 7th at the SUNY New Paltz Athletic Banquet.

Yeung won both the Eastern Collegiate Athletic Conference (ECAC) Championship and the State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) Championship in the 100-yard backstroke this season. At ECAC’s in December, Yeung finished the race with a time of 54.44 seconds to claim the title and ripped through the water in 53.61 seconds at SUNYAC’s in February.

Yeung also claimed the SUNYAC title in the 200 medley relay with teammates Jon Amoia, Jon Sousa, and Mark Costello, and placed second in the 400 medley relay with Amoia, Sousa, and Jeff Galaise.

New Paltz men’s swimming and diving finished third this season at the SUNYAC Championships as a team for the second straight year, compiling 508 points.
