Williams Chosen As Team Most Valuable Player

NEW PALTZ, NY — Silver Williams was named Most Valuable Player of the women’s basketball team at the SUNY New Paltz Athletic Banquet May 7th.

Williams, a senior forward, led the Hawks in rebounds this season with 215 and was second on the team in scoring, averaging 11.5 points per game.

Williams finished her career as only the third women’s basketball player in New Paltz history with over 900 points (946) and 600 rebounds (671).

After winning just four games in 2001-02, the women’s basketball team went 9-16 this season under first-year head coach Brad Duckworth.
