Men’s 4×100 Team Qualifies for ECAC Championships at Albany Invitational

ALBANY, NY — The New Paltz outdoor track teams competed at the USA Track and Field Invitational at the University of Albany Friday. The women finished with 24 points in 10th place out of 20 competing teams and the men ended the meet in with seven points in 18th place out of 26 teams.

Andrew Hunsinger (Queensbury, NY), Adam Thyberg (Blue Point, NY), Henderson Brathwaite (Mount Vernon, NY), and John Egiziano (Wallkill, NY) highlighted the day for the Hawks as they qualified for next week’s Eastern Collegiate Athletic Conference Championships in the 4 x 100 meter relay.

The quartet finished in fourth place in the event and crossed the finish line at the 44.58 second mark to qualify.

Also for the men, Josh Moore (Woodburne, NY) placed 7th in the shot put with a throw of 14.73 meters, Hunsinger finished 10th in the 100 meters (11.34), Phil Goodwin (Rochester, NY) was 13th in the 1500 meters (4:15.16), and Scott Amado (Coxsackie, NY) took 9th in the long jump (6.21m).

The University at Albany won the men’s meet with 201 points. RPI was second with 79.50 points, and Binghamton finished third with 77.

For the women, Musu Jackson-Buckner (Buffalo, NY) took sixth in the women’s 100 meters. Jackson-Buckner crossed the finish line in 13.02 seconds.

Jackie Goldstein (Port Jervis, NY) was 5th in the javelin with a throw of 30.15 meters, and 9th in the hammer throw with a mark of 31.62 meters.

Heather DeBuono (Fishkill, NY) placed 8th in the 800 meters with a time of 2:26.92, Janet Walsh (Baldwinsville, NY) was 9th in the 1500 meters (5:05.11), Christina Butcher (North Salem, NY) was 7th (16.90) in the 100 meter hurdles, and Jenny Hutchinson (Queensbury, NY) was 9th (2.75m) in the pole vault.

First place in the team standings for the women went to the University at Albany with 220 points. Williams came in second with 100 points followed by Binghamton in third with 60.

This week’s ECAC Championships will take place Friday and Saturday in Williamstown, MA beginning at 9:00 a.m.
