Demeri Takes Home Women’s Cross Country MVP

NEW PALTZ, NY — Rebecca Demeri, of Wantagh, NY, took home women’s cross country Most Valuable Player honors at the SUNY New Paltz Athletic Banquet May 7th.

Demeri, a junior, was the Hawks’ top finisher at the 2002 State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) Cross Country Championships in Brocton, NY. Demeri finished the 5K race in 22nd place with a time of 20:30.23.

The New Paltz women’s cross country team finished 8th as a team at SUNYAC’s with 193 points.

The women’s cross country team was also recognized by the NCAA Division III Cross Country Coaches Association for having the highest team grade-point-average in the nation.
