SUNY New Paltz baseball loses to Franklin & Marshall 9-2

FT. PIERCE, FL — The SUNY New Paltz men’s baseball team lost its third consecutive game Wednesday losing to Franklin & Marshall 9-2.

The Hawks fell behind 7-0 after two innings and could not put anything together against Diplomat pitcher Mike Gossner who pitched six innings giving up no runs and just two hits.

The Hawks did manage two runs in the top of the seventh off relief pitcher Jeremy Knox. Kevin Smith (Niskayuna, NY) and Joe Papasidero (Goshen, NY) each drove in one run apiece in the inning.

Jason Schwartzberg went 3-for-4 with four RBI to lead Franklin & Marshall.

New Paltz will play three games tomorrow to close out their Florida trip. The Hawks will tangle with Bethany (WV) at 8:45 a.m., Alvernia at 11:45 a.m., and Utica College in a makeup game at 9:30 p.m.
