New Paltz students to host Annual Business Day

NEW PALTZ — The Annual Business Day Conference takes place in the SUNY New Paltz Student Union Building from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., Friday, March 28. The conference, sponsored by the student chapter of the American Marketing Association (AMA) and the SUNY New Paltz School of Business, provides workshops and presentations for regional college students on a wide variety of business related issues.

“The utility of the conference for college students is based on the idea that not all learning occurs within the classroom,” said Ted Clark, AMA advisor and marketing/management lecturer for the School of Business. “The conference will provide students with the opportunity to learn from successful practitioners and alumni who are eager to share their experiences.”

This year’s keynote speaker is Gerald Celente, director and founder of The Trends Research Institute, and a pioneer in forecasting, analyzing and managing trends. Celente designed and currently teaches the first professional course in trend tracking.

Published documented evidence proves that the Institute has produced the most accurate, timely and comprehensive forecast trends. Celente’s extensive range of knowledge and expertise makes him a favorite of major media. They call on him for unique perspectives on the current event forming future trends. He is the world’s only analyst who covers 300 diversified trends fields. In addition to providing specialized trend research services, Celente is frequently called upon by corporations and associations to deliver keynote addresses and seminar presentations worldwide.

“The Business Day Conference gives students the opportunity to develop valuable skills such as managerial, interpersonal and communication skills,” said Meredith Phelan, AMA President and current graduate student at SUNY New Paltz.

The conference features a daylong agenda of speakers and workshops, and is designed for undergraduate and graduate level students interested in business careers.
