New Paltz men’s tennis closes out trip with win over Knox College

ORLANDO, FL — The SUNY New Paltz men’s tennis team rebounded from two straight 5-2 losses to William Jewell and Grinell College earlier this week for a 4-3 win over Knox College in their Orlando finale.

The Hawks, now 1-2, won four out of five singles matches. Brad Breakstone (Mount Kisco, NY) and Bobby Calise (East Islip, NY) each upped their season records to 3-0 with singles wins. Breakstone won 6-1, 6-2 over Ben Gildehaus and Calise won 6-4, 6-4 over Adam Moeser.

Nick Finger (Glenmont, NY) and Josh Greenspan (North Babylon, NY) picked up their first singles wins of the season in three-set matches. Finger won 7-6, 1-6, 6-3 over Steve Bachta while Greenspan recovered from a slow start to defeat Jon Betts 1-6, 7-5, 6-1.

Doubles #1 Gildehaus and Moesher (K) defeated Taran and Breakstone 8-1 #2 Boyll and Bachta (K) defeated Finger and Calise 8-3 #3 Steve Petrovich and Jeff Hendrickson defeated Brandon Goodman and Greg Chichon 8-5
