Hawks Drop First Game to Potsdam 7-0, Second Game Rained Out

HIGHLAND, NY – — The SUNY New Paltz softball team got the first game of its doubleheader in against conference Potsdam this afternoon at Tony Williams Field. The second game was postponed due to rain.

Behind the pitching of sophomore Kari Brady (Heuvelton, NY) the Bears picked up their first win of the season with a 7- 0 victory. Brady retired the first 16 Hawks before freshman Kate McPartlan (Harborfields, NY) broke up the perfect game bid with an infield hit. Brady allowed just two hits and struck out eight in a complete game effort.

Senior Rian Rebideau (Ellenburg Depot, NY) keyed Bears attack with a 2-for-3, three RBI day. Sophomore Katie Lemery (Hudson Falls, NY) went 3-for-4 with three runs scored and an RBI to raise Potsdam’s record 1-10 overall and 1-0 in the SUNYAC.

New Paltz senior Kristin Ackermann (Middletown, NY) suffered the loss to drop to 0-2. In seven innings, Ackermann allowed nine hits, walked three and struck out three. The Hawks are now 0-9 overall and 0-3 in SUNYAC play.

Freshman Danielle Porcelli (Harborfields, NY) accounted for the other New Paltz hit.
