Hawks Drop Fifth and Deciding Game to University of New Haven

WEST HAVEN, CT. – — The SUNY New Paltz men’s volleyball team took the University of New Haven to a fifth and deciding game but came up short on the road this evening.

In a match that went back and forth, the Hawks dropped the final game 15-12 to the lose 3-2. After dropping the first game 30-22, New Paltz (3-19) committed just one error in the second game and used a .600 hitting percentage to win 34-32.

New Haven (13-7) took control of the third game and came away with a 30-23 victory.

Behind the play of sophomore outside hitters Chris Ganje (Halfmoon, NY) and Mike LaRocco (Hauppauge, NY) New Paltz forced a fifth game with a 30-26 win. Ganje finished the match with 21 kills while LaRocco had 12 kills and 10 digs.

Freshman setter Kevin Buggs (Tonawanda, NY) had 33 assists for New Paltz for dropped its setting meeting of the season to the Chargers.

The Hawks will travel to Springfield College to face the Pride on Saturday (Mar. 29) at 6:00 p.m.
