Williams Leads Hawks Past SUNYIT

UTICA, NY — Silver Williams (Newburgh, NY) scored 26 points and collected 12 rebounds Tuesday night to lead New Paltz to a 67-64 victory over SUNYIT.

Williams hit 12 of 14 shots from the free-throw line including two with six seconds left to seal the win for the Hawks who improve to 8-15 overall and 3-11 in the SUNYAC.

The Hawks also got strong play from guards Colleen Kelly (Hyde Park, NY) and Kim Weigel (Whitestone, NY). Kelly (10) and Weigel (11) combined for 21 points and six three-point baskets for the game. Forward Tarah Norris (Port Jervis, NY) also was in double figures for the Hawks with 11 points.

With the victory, the Hawks stay alive for the final SUNYAC playoff spot with two games remaining. New Paltz will have to beat Potsdam Friday and Plattsburgh Saturday and hope that Fredonia loses their weekend games with Cortland and Geneseo to secure a berth.
