New Paltz Men Win Five Events vs. Coast Guard, Lindner Sets Two Pool Records

NEW LONDON, CT – — The SUNY New Paltz men’s swimming team won five events and Danielle Lindner establised two pool records for the women, but it wasn’t enough as SUNY New Paltz fell to Coast Guard this evening.

The men were defeated 141-101 while women were bested 148-87.

Kent Yeung won the 100 (49:44) and 200 (1:50.45) freestyle events for the Hawks. Yeung also teammed up with Jon Amoia, Jeff Galaise and Jay Sousa to win the 200 medley relay in 1:41.80.

Amoia also won the 100 breaststroke with a time of 1:01.72 and Sousa was a winner in the 1000 freestyle (10:40.33).

Lindner meanwhile set two Coast Guard Academy pool records with first place performances in the 100 backstroke and the 200 freestyle. She won the 100 backstroke with a time of 1:02.28 and captured the 200 freestyle in 2:02.28.
