NEW PALTZ — The office of the Dean of Liberal Arts and Sciences, the Department of Economics and the Economics Club will sponsor a lecture on Nov. 13, featuring Dr. James Orr, the senior economist at the Federal Reserve Bank of New York. Orr will be discuss the economic and fiscal impacts of the World Trade Center attacks.
“Dr. Orr will provide a solid and authoritative account of the economic and fiscal impacts of the World Trade Center attack on our region,” said Dr. Simin Mozayeni, chair of the Department of Economics. “We are very pleased that he has accepted our invitation to speak at New Paltz.”
Orr is the research officer for Business Conditions Function at the Federal Reserve Bank of New York where he has served as a research officer since 1988. His previous positions include adjunct assistant professor of economics at New York University’s Stern School of Business, assistant professor of economics at Manhattan College’s School of Business and international economist in the International Labor Affairs Bureau at the U.S. Department of Labor. Orr received his Ph.D. in economics at the University of Pennsylvania.
