Downey and Wong Named to All-SUNYAC Field Hockey Team

NEW PALTZ – — Senior Heather Downey (Scotia, NY – Burnthills Ballston Lake) and freshman Lisa Wong (Colts Neck, NJ – Colts Neck HS) were both named second team all-league by the State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) this afternoon.

Downey, a defender, played in all 16 games for the Hawks and had one assist. She also helped lead a SUNY New Paltz defensive unit that recorded two shutouts this fall.

Wong, a midfielder, played in all 16 games as well and was tied for third on the team in scoring with three points (1 goal, 1 assist).

The SUNY New Paltz field hockey team, which just completed its third season of varsity play, had an overall record of 3-13 to register their highest win total in the brief history of the program. The Hawks also went 1-4 in the SUNYAC.
