New Paltz Falls to Drew 4-1

MADISON, NJ — In the second round of the Drew Fall Festival, New Paltz fell to 0-2 with a 4-1 loss to Drew University. The hosts claim the tournament title going 2-0 on the weekend.

The Rangers got on the board first on a goal from junior Justin Davis (South Orange, NJ) 18 minutes into the game. New Paltz tied it eight minutes later on a blast from Mario Lavacca (Port Washington, NY). Tyler Brisk (Closter, NJ) gave the Rangers the go-ahead goal with seven minutes remaining in the first half, which was all Drew would need.

In the second half, Derek Swanner (Monroe Township, NJ) connected off a corner kick at 63:24 and Russell Jaffe (Belle Mead, NJ) made it 4-1 a minute later to give the Rangers a three-goal cushion.

Senior defender Tim Van Wyen (Sayville, NY) was named to the all-tournament team for his play this weekend.
