Hawks Go 2-3 in SUNYAC Pool Play

UTICA, NY — The SUNY New Paltz women’s volleyball team went 2-3 in SUNYAC Pool Play this weekend at SUNYIT. Their record now stands at 4-19 overall.

On Thursday, the Hawks went 0-2 falling to Plattsburgh 3-1 (20-30, 30-18, 27-30, 24-30) and Cortland 3-1 (20-30, 20-30, 30-26, 25-30).

Friday, New Paltz turned it around taking two of three matches from the rest of the SUNYAC East. The Hawks began the day with a 3-1 loss to Oneonta (19-30, 29-31, 30-22, 20-30) but rebounded for a 3-1 win over Potsdam (21-30, 30-22, 33-31, 30-18) and a 3-0 victory over SUNYIT (30-14, 30-19, 30-15).

Jackie Goldstein (Port Jervis, NY) led the Hawks in kills with 66 on the weekend. Goldstein recorded 15 kills in four of the five matches at the event. She also contributed 11 assists, 17 digs, and 13 blocks. Jennifer Hollis (Livingston, NJ) finished the event as the Hawks’ leader in assists (113) and digs (26). Christina Mazurowski (Tonawanda, NY) chipped in with 30 kills, and led the team in blocks with 15.

The Hawks will play the same five teams again Oct. 25-26 at Potsdam. The top three teams move on to the SUNYAC Championships Nov. 8-9.
