POUGHKEEPSIE, NY — Freshman midfielder Holly Latour (Plattsburgh, NY) and freshman forward Jennifer Tuttle (Rome, NY) each tallied a goal to lead Elmira to a 2-0 win over the Hawks.
New Paltz applied pressure early but Latour struck midway through the first-half on a looping shot under the crossbar that sailed over Hawk goalkeeper Maggie Fenton’s (East Meadow, NY) head for a 1-0 lead.
Tuttle put the game away with a minute left in the match when she picked up the ball inside the box and beat Fenton for the 2-0 final.
Christine Zalusky (Vestal, NY) made seven saves for Elmira to record the shutout. Fenton finished with eight saves for New Paltz.
