Hawks Compete at ECAC Track Championships

SPRINGFIELD, MA — Representatives from the New Paltz track and field teams competed in the Eastern Collegiate Athletic Conference Track and Field Championships in Springfield, Massachusetts Thursday and Friday at Springfield College.

Stephanie Ramsey (Shelton, CT) placed the highest for the Hawks at the meet finishing 9th in the women’s long jump. Ramsey took the 9th spot thanks to a jump of 5.01 meters. In the same event, Natasha Dudar (New Paltz, NY) took 22nd with a jump of 4.22 meters. Christina Butcher (North Salem, NY) placed 25th in the women’s 100m high hurdles finishing with a time of 17.52 seconds and Andrea Drayss (Island Trees, NY) placed 15th in the women’s shot put with a throw of 11.47 meters. Drayss now gears up for an even bigger competition, as she’ll compete in the National Collegiate Athletic Association Track and Field Championships this coming weekend at Macalester College in Saint Paul, Minnesota.

For the men, Phil Goodwin (Rochester, NY) took 11th place in the men’s 1500m with a finishing time of 4:08.05, and Justin Lee (East Fishkill, NY) was 19th in the men’s 800m, crossing the finish line at 2:02.61.
